Carrie Powell Cited for Non-Fatal Traffic Accident on US Route 67

One of the car accident reports from McDonough County, Illinois, disclosed that the Illinois State Police ticketed a woman following a traffic accident on US Route 67. The crash involving Carrie Powell, a 32-year-old Macomb resident, happened on Sunday morning, October 4th.

The ISP District 14 said that the crash occurred a little before 7:30 a.m. The driver traveled northbound on USR-67 in a white 2012 Chevrolet SUV, and at the same time, 40-year-old Jacksonville resident, Nathaniel Hoyle, drove a white 2004 Ford truck in the same direction.

The investigators said the male driver slowed down for a deer on the roadway, with the woman traveling behind him. Powell failed to reduce speed and rear-ended the truck. The impact left her, Nathaniel, and his 18-year-old passenger, Brandon Hoyle, of Jacksonville, with injuries.

The state police said the wounds are non-life-threatening, and medics conveyed the trio to a local hospital for treatment. They cited the woman for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. There is no additional information.

In Illinois, when a motor vehicle accident involving more than one automobile occurs, one driver must get cited for failure to reduce speed. The offense is mostly attributed to the driver whom the investigating authority believes behaved negligently.

The penalty for the offense is getting ticketed and payment of a $1,000 fine. Depending on a case’s merits, a driver might face additional punishments and have points added against their driver’s license.
