The popular and well regarded Levar Burton, who grew to international fame after noteworthy roles in productions like “Roots” and “Star Trek: The Next Generation” was one of many victims of a multiple vehicle accident in West Los Angeles. The incident occurred Monday night and involved 52-year-old Burton who was traveling down Beverly Boulevard when a 74-year-old woman in a 2006 Scion attempted to make a left turn in front of him. The two vehicles wrecked, sending the star’s Mercedes into a parked car and then into two other autos that were situated nearby.
Both Burton and the woman complained of pain and were taken to Cedar-Sinai Medical Center. Serious injuries were not reported.
Sadly, only time will tell if anyone was legitimately harmed in the collision. Far too often, car accident victims are hurt but do not know the extent of damage to their own bodies until much later. Some of the problems can be internal, resulting in a degeneration that can affect one’s ability to remain independent and self-sufficient, especially if the condition affects motor skills. After a car accident, take nothing for granted. Continue to look for signs of a problem and seek medical assistance if you notice degradation in health. Should you discover you were hurt far more seriously than initially anticipated, you may need to seek financial compensation for your injury.
