Jesus Quevedo Fatally Struck By Vehicle At Tucson Gas Station

Police said a man was fatally struck by a vehicle Saturday evening in Tucson after getting into a fight with the SUV’s passenger.

Jesus A. Quevedo, 41, of Tucson, died at a hospital after the incident, which was reported at about 6 p.m. Saturday, according to the Tucson Police Department. The driver of the vehicle, identified in car accident reports as Adrian G. Manriquez, 27, of Tucson, was later arrested on multiple charges.

According to a Tucson police press release, Quevedo and another man, who was not publicly identified, got into an argument at a gas station on West Valencia Road at about 6 p.m. Saturday. The man then got into the passenger’s seat of a vehicle operated by Manriquez, according to car accident reports.

Quevedo reportedly followed the man, engaging Manriquez in the altercation as well, police said. Quevedo stepped in front of Manriquez’ vehicle and slammed his hands on the hood, according to car accident reports.

“Mr. Manriquez accelerated, striking Mr. Quevedo and continued driving, fleeing the scene,” police said in the press release.

Quevedo was transported to Banner University Medical Center, where he died as a result of his injuries, according to car accident reports.

Police said Manriquez was arrested at his home later Saturday night. He faces charges of second-degree homicide and leaving the scene of a fatal crash.

Online court records don’t list any upcoming court dates.
