Motorcycle Truck Collision in Phoenix Kills Luis Carlos De Anda-Galaviz

A motorcyclist was killed in a fatal collision with a dump truck on Wednesday, September 2. The unfortunate incident took place in West Phoenix in the Maricopa County as per the initial accident reports. Police identified the victim of the crash as Luis Carlos De Anda-Galaviz aged 33.

Anda-Galaviz was riding his motorcycle at the intersection of the 51st Avenue and the Broadway Road at the time. Just as he was traveling through the intersection, his motorcycle crashed into the rear of a dump truck. It isn’t clear what caused the crash. A rear-end collision can occur because the driver at the front suddenly slows down or when the driver in the rear fails to reduce speed in time. Police are yet to reveal which of the two scenarios took place in this crash.

Following the crash, Anda-Galaviz sustained critical injuries. Once the paramedics and law enforcement personnel arrived on the scene of the crash, attempts were made to revive him. However, he succumbed to his critical injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene of the accident.

The authorities closed down the Broadway Road between the 43rd and 53rd avenues following the accident. Once on-site investigations and cleanup had been concluded, the stretch of road was reopened a while later.

The driver of the dump truck involved in the crash was not named by the police. He was only identified as a 63-year-old man. The driver remained at the crash scene and cooperated with the authorities. Preliminary accident reports from the police show that the driver exhibited no signs of impairment.
