A 21-year-old woman identified as Victoria Dukepoo lost her life in a solo car crash in Phoenix, Arizona. The Phoenix Police Department said in the accident report that the crash happened late Wednesday night, July 29th.
According to Sgt. Mercedes Fortune, the accident happened at about 9 p.m. near 19th Avenue and Van Buren Street. The officer said that the vehicle Dukepoo traveled in headed south on the 19th when the 20-year-old driver lost control of it. The car spun, veered off the road, and crashed into a block wall.
Dukepoo suffered severe wounds and died at the hospital while receiving treatment. A 14-year-old male passenger and a 16-year-old girl also sustained injuries and received treatment. The police said that the driver was not severely injured, and the motorist did not appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
The reason why the driver lost control of the car remains unknown, but the investigation continues. Anyone with helpful information should contact the PPD on the listed line.
A motor vehicle accident occurs either as a single-vehicle collision, two-vehicle collision, or multiple-vehicle collision. Factors leading to the trio are similar and cover speeding, running red lights or stop signs at intersections, distractions while driving, and operating a car while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Others are driving on the wrong way, failing to yield at intersections, veering into the opposite lane of travel, and driving too fast for road and weather conditions. Drivers should mitigate the factors by obeying traffic rules and regulations and putting safety first.
