Speeding Driver Causes Head-On Crash Killing Greg Barron, 59, Of Lake Elsinore

Police have identified 59-year-old Greg Barron of Lake Elsinore as the fatal victim in a Sunday head-on crash.

Traveling east on Highway 74 shortly before 9 am, Barron’s GMC Yukon was hit head-on by a yellow Chevrolet Camaro that had drifted into the opposite lane. The 21-year-old driver was reportedly trying to pass slower traffic, when he swerved into the path of Barron’s Yukon. The driver of the Camaro was treated for a punctured lung and multiple fractures, and his passenger suffered a lower back fracture.

Barron was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police do not suspect drugs or alcohol played a role in the fatal crash, however will be filing charges against the driver. It’s not been determined what those charges will be.
