David Spade, 52, an actor well-known for his appearances on Saturday Night Live, and in such films as Grown Ups and Tommy Boy, was hospitalized Wednesday after being involved in a multi-vehicle accident in Los Angeles.
The accident occurred near Sunset Boulevard and Beverly Drive outside the Beverly Hills Hotel, at an intersection which is known for being one of the most complex and dangerous in Los Angeles. As Spade crossed the intersection, another car sped up to cross before the light turned red and hit Spade’s Range Rover, spinning the vehicle around and deploying both airbags.
Although the Range Rover was severely damaged, Spade fortunately escaped the accident with only minor injuries, and was quickly released from the hospital.
No one else was in Spade’s vehicle at the time of the crash. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be a factor.
