Belinda Woods Killed in Macon County Log Truck Accident

A woman from Montezuma, Georgia, identified as Belinda Woods, died following a log truck accident in Macon County. Accident reports from the Georgia State Patrol revealed that the crash occurred at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5, on Georgia Highway 80.

According to the police, a 64-year-old man identified as Robert Brooks, from Eastman, was behind the wheels of a Mack Truck and headed south on the highway. Brooks approached a red light at Travelers Rest Road. Woods, on the other hand, was driving an Acura Integra east on the same roadway and approached the intersection.

The Mack driver then hit the driver’s side door of the Audi car with the front of his truck. The impact of the collision caused severe harm to Woods. Emergency teams and paramedics arrived at the scene, after which they airlifted the victim to the Medical Center in Macon. But she died in the hospital as a result of her injuries.

Brooks, however, was unhurt from the crash. Police are continuing with their investigations into the crash and are yet to complete their report.

Authorities state that most accidents that occur on the roadway are preventable and would not happen if drivers pay attention while driving.

Accident reports show that many accidents happen due to drivers being negligent while on the road, or when they disobey traffic laws. Patrol officers always caution motorists against doing such and advise them only to drive when they are in the right frame of mind. Drivers must ensure that they practice road safety tips, road traffic regulations, and drive safely.
