On Wednesday, February 26, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office identified another passenger riding in the car that killed a 14-year old Howard Middle School student.
They’ve identified that individual as 17-year-old Drequan Brown.
According to Bibb County officials, Brown was traveling in a stolen Nissan Sentra with a driver and three other passengers in the early morning hours of February 17 on Napier Avenue in Macon.
The driver of the Nissan, whose name has not been released, ran a stop light. A chase began and ultimately, the vehicle flipped over ejecting everyone who was inside.
Brown and another passenger fled the scene. That other individual has yet to be identified.
The unnamed driver and one passenger, a 15-year-old girl whose identity has not been released, remained at the scene of the accident. Another passenger, 14-year-old Howard Middle School student Shakayla Hill was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing. However, at the time of the accident, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office reported the that driver would be charged with murder as a juvenile, among other charges. He will face those charges once he is released from the hospital, investigators said.
