Georgia Man, Richard Nicholas Head Faces Charges for Multiple Car Collisions

On Wednesday, March 25th, a man from North Georgia, who triggered a chain of events that led to auto crashes was charged with multiple offenses. Richard Nicholas Head, 29, is facing a total of 12 charges, including two counts of aggravated assault.

Head, a Morganton resident, is also facing one count of fleeing police, another for hit-and-run, and probation violation. The other offenses the man is facing are traffic-related, and the cumulation will get him jail time and a fine.

The report by the Fannin County Sheriff’s Office stated that last Thursday, March 19th, at about 4:30 p.m., the man and his wife, name withheld, had an altercation at the intersection of Marble City Road and Ga. 60.

The sheriff office had received a 911 call about the altercation and dispatched a female deputy to the scene. When the officer got there, she found Head and his wife in separate SUVs, with the suspect striking the woman’s vehicle several times.

Before the policewoman could get out of her patrol car, and intervene, Head intentionally collided with her vehicle head-on, and drove away. The vehicle was wrecked, and the officer, who could not chase after the man called it in.

Another deputy, a male, gave chase, and Head ran a stop sign, and also drove on the wrong side of the road. The deputy then attempted a PIT maneuver, but lost control of his car after the suspect swerved into him.

At this point, the police arrested Head, and he is currently remanded at the Fannin County Jail. There is no information on his bond, and the Georgia State Patrol helped in the investigation.
