The police department of Union City, Georgia, on Friday, February 28th, announced that they had confirmed the identity of the three people involved in the fatal car crash that left two people dead and one person with life-threatening injuries.
The first two victims are the driver, Julius Antwan Vickers, 24, and his sister, who sat on the passenger’s side, Cherina Denise Vickers, 33, both of Grayson. The third, who sat in the back-passenger seat is, Kemoni Lavarous Watts, 25, of Atlanta.
Julius and Kemoni died at the scene of the accident, and Cherina is in critical condition at the Grady Memorial Hospital. The accident the trio was involved in occurred in the early hours of Thursday, February 27th.
At about 4 a.m., the Union City Police got a 911 call about a single-vehicle crash at South Fulton Park, precisely between Derrick and Stonewall Tell Roads. The police relayed the information to the Georgia State Patrol, who acted as first responders.
According to the GSP, the 2015 Kia Optima, the trio was traveling in, left its eastbound lane, and entered the median of the roadway. The vehicle hit several trees, which caused it to rotate clockwise.
While the car rotated, the rear separated, and Kemoni got ejected from the vehicle. Julius also got removed, leaving only Cherina in the wrecked vehicle.
The fatal crash led to the closure of the roadway for about six hours. The lanes reopened at 9:30 a.m., and an hour later, the GSP opened the South Fulton Parkway.
The GSP is investigating what led the Kia to go off the roadway. They have asked anyone with information to come forward and contact their Union City office or the police.
