A car accident occurred at around 4 p.m on Island Highway in Midway, California, on Saturday, 29 February. Two of the three occupants in the car were severely injured, leading to death for one of them.
The accident occurred in Liberty County when 59-year-old Larry Curtis Stewart was traveling eastbound on Islands Highway with two others when he met his demise.
According to the spokesman for the Georgia State Patrol Trooper, David Laff, Stewart, a resident of Richmond Hill, was driving a 2002 Ford F-150 when he lost control and swerved off the highway.
Reports revealed that the driver lost control when his right side tires moved in an unplanned direction forcing him to overcorrect. The forced change of course from the driver made the vehicle cross the roadway into the oncoming lane, entered the shoulder of the road, and struck a palm tree.
Stewart died from his injuries. His traveling companion in the front passenger seat was injured in the left wrist. The rear passenger survived the accident unscathed.
According to the CSIR, tire failure contributes to almost 20% of accidents. Tire failures can affect a driver’s braking, handling, and steering ability.
There are simple checks to ensure you do not have an accident due to tire failure. To start with, ensure your tires are replaced at the time recommended by the tire or vehicle manufacturer. The replacement must be the same size as the former.
Ensure your tires are correctly aligned at all times – Tyre brand, size, and tread pattern, speed rating, and construction. Your tires should be maintained and replaced regularly by qualified personnel and ensure replacements are from authorized dealers.
