A tragic accident on Wednesday night, May 27th, claimed two lives and left another injured in Macon, Georgia. The authorities in the car accident report identified the two who died as Kimberly Hampton, 41, and Xander Abshire, 17. The sole survivor is Jessie Hobby III, 30.
According to the news release by the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, the trio was traveling in a car driven by Hampton on the westbound lane of Sardis Church Road. A little before 8:30 p.m., the female motorist lost control of the vehicle and struck an embankment near the Barfield Road intersection.
When first responders arrived at the scene, they found that Abshire and Hobby were ejected from the vehicle during the crash, while Hampton remained inside. The county coroner, Leon James, pronounced the driver and the teenager dead at the scene.
The medics took the older male passenger to Medical Center, Navicent Health, to treat unspecified injuries, and he is in a stable condition. The accident remains under investigation, and anyone with helpful information should contact the sheriff’s office on the listed line or the Macon Regional Crime Stoppers.
A single-vehicle crash, as seen in car accident reports, is one of the most common types of traffic accidents. Others are two-vehicle crashes, multiple vehicle collisions, rear-end collisions, head-on, and broadsided collisions.
Traffic authorities believe accidents are preventable if drivers follow traffic rules and regulations. Additionally, they should exercise care and caution when on the road, and drive carefully always.
