Robert Williams Dies After RunOver Accident in Macon


Deputies from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the fatal crash in a parking lot in Macon, Georgia, that led to the death of a 65-year-old man, Robert Leo Williams. According to accident reports, the incident happened at 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 7.

From initial investigations carried out and findings from witnesses, deputies reported that Williams, who is from Macon, was riding with two other people, and heading for a store. The driver of the vehicle they were riding in parked at the parking lot of the store.

Williams then got out of the vehicle, while the driver decided to pull into a parking space. However, the deceased thought that the motorist was leaving him behind, prompting him to go after the car. The driver then pulled forward, while Williams ran back towards the car, and in an attempt to open the rear door, stumbled and fell underneath the vehicle. The vehicle then ran over him.

Paramedics arrived at the scene after which they attended to Williams, and also rushed him to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The accident remains under investigation at this time, with no charges pending.
