Norman Daugherty Dies Weeks After Multivehicle Crash in Gwinnett County


Authorities revealed on Friday, May 8, that a Dacula man identified as Norman Daugherty died following a multivehicle crash in Gwinnett County, Georgia. Accident reports state that the crash occurred when a ladder fell off a vehicle and into the northbound lanes of I-85.

Police are still in search of the owner of the ladder and hope to identify them and charge them in connection with the fatal multi-vehicle crash. Reports state that the accident occurred at about 3 p.m. on March 25 near Beaver Ruin Road.

The crash happened after a car struck a ladder in the middle of the interstate. This set off a collision that involved six vehicles, including two tractor-trailers, an SUV, and three cars. It also resulted in several drivers getting injured.

In a press release on Friday, police said that Daugherty was one of the drivers involved in the crash and that he died of the injuries that he sustained. They also released pictures of the mangled blue ladder that caused the fatal crash.

According to Corporal Collin Flynn, the spokesman for the Gwinnett Police, investigators released the photos with the hope that an individual would be able to identify the owner of the ladder or say how it ended up on the interstate.
