Traffic Collision in Macon Leaves Sammie Louis Edwards Hospitalized

The services of a car injury lawyer would come in handy after a man sustained life-threatening injuries in a traffic collision in Macon, Georgia. The fatal occurrence took place just before midnight on Sunday, May 17.

Police recorded the crash just after 11:45 p.m., at the Tucker Road overpass on Interstate 475. According to the Bibb County authorities, the collision involved no fewer than four vehicles and left one person trapped underneath a disabled car.

Preliminary reports suggest the incident began when the tires of a 2012 Ford Explorer towing a Jeep Wrangler gave way in the middle of I-475. The motorist behind the wheels, identified as Juan Perez, 26, lost control of the vehicle. Deputies said the SUV skidded forward until it came to rest blocking the centre and right lanes on the interstate.

Almost immediately, a Mercedes, driven by Kadija Williams, approached the wreck. While trying to avoid Perez’s vehicle, Williams drove her Mercedes into the raised centre divider, disabling her car. Sammie Louis Edwards, 31, travelling as a passenger in the Mercedes, alighted the vehicle to offer aid to Perez.

Just as he did so, a Cadillac Escalade driving past the wreck collided with Edwards, so that he ended up pinned underneath the SUV. Officers said Francisco Gomez was the operator of the Escalade.

Emergency responders rescued the victim from the wreckage and transported him to the Navicent Health Medical Center for treatment. Hospital staff listed him in critical condition. Other victims involved went unscathed.

An investigation into the crash is underway.

Involving a car injury lawyer would ensure the injured accident victim gets maximum compensation for injuries sustained, and other resulting damages.
