The Georgia State Patrol is investigating a multi-vehicle accident that occurred in the early afternoon of February 20 in Macon County. Reports indicate the accident occurred at approximately 1 p.m. on Georgia 49.

The driver of one of the vehicles, 22-year-old Clarence Coleman, was taken to Perry Hospital where he later died. The passenger in that vehicle, Shantion Seats, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Coleman was driving north on Georgia 49, when he crossed the center line and lost control of his car. Coleman then collided with a box truck that was traveling south on Georgia 49. The box truck was unable to avoid the oncoming vehicle and hit the left side of Coleman’s car, splitting it in half. Coleman was thrown from the car and later died as a result of the injuries. The passenger in Coleman’s car, Shantion Seats, died at the scene.

The box truck rolled over, struck a light pole and ended up in a ditch on the side of the road. For reasons unknown, the box truck driver’s identity has not been released and injuries are unknown at this time.

As of Thursday, the Georgia State Patrol was continuing to assemble the crash report for this accident.
