Zachary Stringer Succumbs to Injuries A Day After Interstate 85 Crash

The victim of a motorcycle crash involving two vehicles on Interstate 85, Gwinnett County, Georgia, passed away a day after the accident. Zachary Stringer, 34, of Lilburn, died on Monday, March 9th, in the hospital where he was receiving treatment.

The accident that took the motorcyclist to the hospital occurred on the afternoon of Sunday, March 8th, at about 5 p.m. The deceased was driving south on Indian Trail Lilburn Road when he crashed against two cars.

According to Gwinnett Police, a Tesla and an Acura were headed in the same direction when the driver of the Tesla chose to reduce his speed because of traffic. The driver of the Acura who was behind the other vehicle swerved to the right to avoid colliding against it.

Stringer was on his motorcycle behind the two vehicles; he collided with the rear of the Tesla before hitting the Acura. The paramedics took the then-injured man to the hospital, and the unidentified drivers went unscathed.

The driver of the Acura was cited for driving without a license, but no one else was charged in the accident as they had no liability. Vehicle-versus-motorcycle accidents often lead to the death of the motorcyclist with the driver of a vehicle sustaining little or no injury.

Common causes of motorcycle accidents include over speeding, drunk driving, and taking turns quickly. Motorcyclists sustain severe trauma to the head and body when they get ejected from the bike, and they have been advised to wear a helmet and protective covering when riding.
