Bradley Wilson Charged with DUI Following Crash Near Irvington; Charles Youngblood Dead

A man from Centralia would need a drunk driving attorney’s services to answer to the charges against him for a DUI-induced crash near Irvington, Illinois. Bradley A. Wilson, 39, allegedly caused the accident that claimed the life of Charles L. Youngblood, 50, of Wayne City on Thursday evening, August 27th.

The Illinois State Police said that two vehicles collided at approximately 5:01 p.m. on US Route 51 at Carpenter Road. The preliminary reports disclosed that a gray 2011 Ford Escape operated by Wilson traveled westbound on Carpenter.

The suspect allegedly attempted to cross all four lanes of USR-51 and failed to yield to oncoming traffic. The act caused him to collide with a white truck tractor semi-trailer operated by Youngblood, striking it on the driver’s side.

The impact left Wilson with non-life-threatening injuries, and medics airlifted him to a regional hospital for treatment. On the other hand, Youngblood suffered extensive wounds and passed away while undergoing treatment at an area hospital. The Washington County Coroner pronounced him dead.

The ISP charged Wilson with driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and failure to yield at an intersection. The accident led to the closure of the southbound lanes on US Route 51 for about three hours while the investigators gathered evidence and cleaned the scene.

The state police said they would not release additional information at this time. The investigation remains ongoing.
