Ryder, Seggerman, Unruh Die in Woodford County Car-Ambulance Collision

On Saturday afternoon, August 1st, the Illinois State Police District 8 disclosed the details of a collision that claimed three lives early that day in Woodford County, Illinois. 20-year-old Morgan Ryder of Gridley,  19-year-old Jared Seggerman of Minonk, and 19-year-old Seth Unruh of Pattonsburg died in the accident.

The car accident report showed that the incident happened shortly before 2 a.m. at the intersection of Illinois Route 116 and County Road 2400 East. The ISP said that Blake Hert of Minonk was in the same vehicle as the trio; he survived with severe wounds and received treatment at an area hospital.

The preliminary investigation uncovered that Ryder drove a vehicle southbound on the County Road, with Seggerman, Unruh, and Hert as passengers. At the same time, an ambulance driven by Joe Delgado of La Salle traveled westbound on R-116. The police said that the victim drove into the ambulance’s path, and the latter struck the vehicle on the driver’s side.

Delgado sustained injuries, and medics took him to an area hospital for treatment. The man was transporting a female patient from Ottawa and a woman from Earlville. The ISP did not state if any of the two sustained injuries.

The crash led to a closure of the roadway for about six hours while the investigators gathered evidence and cleared the scene. There is no additional information, and the state police would release new updates at a later time.
