Sarah E. Cruz Dies, Two Injured in a Two-Vehicle Crash on Route 126

A fatal crash happened on Thursday night, February 13th, on Route 126, Illinois. The accident, which involved two vehicles left Sarah E. Cruz, 35, of Spring Valley, dead, and two others were injured.

Cruz got identified by the Will County Coroner’s Office. She was a passenger in a Toyota Camry driven by an unnamed 37-year-old man and was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The two-vehicle crash happened at about 9:08 p.m. between Meadow Lane and Indian Boundary Road on Route 126. Preliminary investigation by authorities revealed that the Toyota was heading east when the driver lost control.

He entered the road leading west and got hit by a BMW X5 driven by an unnamed 58-year-old woman on the passenger’s side. The driver of the Toyota sustained life-threatening injuries and got airlifted to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.

The driver is in critical condition and intensive care. The woman in the BMW sustained minor injuries and got taken in a stable condition to the nearby Rush-Copley hospital in Aurora.

The police and Plainfield Fire Department worked together to extricate the three adults from the vehicles. They also worked with Plainfield Emergency Management Agency, to close off the affected roads until 3 a.m. on Friday, February 14th.

An investigation into the crash is still ongoing as police try to understand what led the driver of the Toyota to lose control of his car. They have requested anyone who needs or has additional information to contact the Plainfield Police Department.
