Woman Killed in Crash Identified as Shellie A. Hansens


A woman who died from injuries sustained in a crash on Wednesday, April 22, has now been identified by the authorities. The unfortunate victim has been identified as Shellie A. Hansens, 51, of Thomasboro, Illinois as per the preliminary accident reports.

The identification details have been shared by the Champaign County Coroner Duane Northrup. The Coroner’s Office had responded to the incident on Wednesday where Hansens was pronounced dead at the site of the crash.

The single-vehicle accident took place on Wednesday morning. It occurred at 2840 County Road 900 East close to a bridge under construction near Dewey, Illinois. According to the authorities, the crash took place around 6:30 a.m. Hansens and her vehicle were in the ravine of the bridge located in Condit Township. The vehicle was discovered by the construction workers as they arrived on the site early in the morning.

Once the first responders and law enforcement personnel arrived on the site of crash, Hansens was pronounced dead around 7:45 a.m. She had apparently died from the critical injuries sustained in the accident.

It is not clear at this point exactly how the incident happened and whether any other vehicles or individuals were involved. The Champaign County Sheriff’s Department and the County Coroner’s Office continue to investigate the incident.
