A man who was killed in a house fire a few days ago has now been identified by the authorities. The victim was identified as Dustin Boucher, 39.
The unfortunate incident took place on Friday, March 6. Around midnight, the authorities were notified about a fire that was raging at a house in the Grand Blanc Township. Firefighters and other law enforcement agencies responded to the report and reached the site of the fire which was on the East Hill Road.
When the firefighters reached the site, they found that the basement of a single-story building was on fire. The firefighters were able to suppress fire and successfully put it out in 20 minutes. However, Dustin Boucher had been trapped in the basement during the fire. When he was rescued and brought out of the building, he was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Two other persons were present on the first floor of the building. They were able to escape the fire and remained safe. Police had initially withheld the identity of the victim but has revealed it now.
On March 12, investigators from the Michigan State Police and other agencies are due to visit the house once again. Investigations are still ongoing into the incident and the authorities are trying to understand exactly what caused the fire. Grand Blanc Township Fire Chief Robert Burdette says that it may still be a while before the authorities are in a position to ascertain the cause of the fire.
