Two men have been indicted by a Dallas County grand jury following a fatal street racing crash in Pleasant Grove in February, according to the most recent accident reports.

Court records show that twenty-three-year-old Cesar Tirado and 27-year-old Alejandro Valdez are facing murder charges in connection with the death of Kendrick Lyons.

Lyons, who was 45, was traveling east on Cushing Drive in a Nissan Sentra around 5 a.m. on February 16. He stopped at a stop sign and as he tried to cross South Masters Drive, a black Chevrolet Camaro crashed into his vehicle.

Lyons’ car struck the median and he was ejected from the vehicle. His car rotated several times before it came to rest in the middle of the road, and it burst into flames.

Lyons was declared dead at the scene.

At the time, police said Tirado was racing down Masters Drive in the black Camaro while Valdez was racing in a gray Camaro.

The indictments describe the speed they were traveling at as “imprudent and excessive”.

Tirado suffered serious internal injuries and had to be hospitalized while Valdez stayed at the accident scene and surrendered to the authorities.

Valdez had hit a curb and then a mailbox before his car came to a stop.

Originally, the two men were charged with racing causing death, but the charge was upgraded.

Following the indictment, Tirado was taken to Dallas County Jail. His bail was set at $250,000. Meanwhile, Valdez posted a $50,000 bond.

Details of the progress of their case will likely come in future car accident reports in the media.
