Juana Garza Galavan

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the cause of a two-vehicle crash in Cameron County that left 69-year-old Juana Garza Galavan dead. Accident reports revealed that the collision occurred on Saturday, May 2, at about 7:37 p.m., on FM 1847 and FM 106.

Early investigations carried out by the Texas DPS Police revealed that a white Toyota pickup truck towing a boat was traveling south on FM 1847, while a black Ford pickup truck was also traveling east on FM 106.

The driver of the Toyota pickup truck became distracted and failed to take note of a stop sign at the intersection. This caused the Ford pickup truck to hit the Toyota.

Galavan, who was the passenger of the Ford, sustained critical injuries resulting from the crash. Responding officers and medics arrived at the scene of the collision to aid the accident victims.

Efforts to revive Juana Garza Galavan proved unsuccessful, leading medics to pronounce the victim dead at the scene. Meanwhile, investigations into the crash remain ongoing, with DPS Troopers suspecting that alcohol may have been a factor.

Accident reports have revealed that the causes of a high number of accidents include drivers’ negligence, speeding, DUIs, and distractions. Patrol officers advise drivers always to be focused when driving. Traffic laws also prohibit drivers from driving under the influence.

Authorities maintain that when drivers adhere strictly to these rules and regulations and also drive with caution, the rate of accidents on roadways would significantly reduce.
