Magaret Naranjo Survives Nacogdoches Three-Vehicle Collision with Injuries

A woman survived a near-fatal crash in the Nacogdoches area of Texas on Tuesday, June 16th. The car accident report disclosed the victim’s name as Magaret Naranjo, a resident of the city.

According to the press release by the Nacogdoches Police Department, the collision took place at approximately 6:07 p.m. Officers and firefighters responded to a 911 call about the crash at the intersection of N. University Dr. and E. Austin Street.

The preliminary investigation uncovered that Zachary Cleveland of Nacogdoches began the event that caused the collision. The man’s GMC Canyon was heading north on N. University when it collided with Naranjo’s westbound Volkswagen. The impact sent the two vehicles northbound, and they collided with a Ford Ranger pickup driven by Lucresha Phillips, also a city resident.

The victim sustained severe injuries, and the paramedics transported her to Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital for treatment, and later flew her to an undisclosed hospital in Tyler. Cleveland and Phillips were uninjured, and there’s no information on whether the latter would get cited or charged.

The incident led to the closure of the intersection from 6:07 p.m. to 2 a.m. Wednesday, June 17th. The NPD Traffic Unit is heading the investigation into the accident to determine the factors that led to it.

Traffic accidents are one of the leading causes of fatality in Texas and the United States. To reduce the death rate associated with vehicle collisions, drivers must operate their vehicles with care, caution, and an unimpaired mind always.
