A 61-year-old woman died on Tuesday after her car ran off the road and rolled over multiple times.

The crash happened around a mile south of US 59 on Farm to Market Road 819 around 4:35 p.m., according to accident reports out of Texas.

The Texas Department of Public Safety identified the deceased as 61-year-old Robin Register. She had lived in Lufkin for her entire life.

Depending on what investigators determine to be the cause of the accident,  Register’s family may have grounds to file a wrongful death claim. This is possible even in single-car collisions if someone else’s negligence caused the crash.

In the meantime, DPS says preliminary investigations indicate that the victim was traveling east on FM 819 when for unknown reasons, she drove off the road.

The car rolled several times, DPS Sergeant David Hendry said.

Register was transported to Lufkin’s CHI St. Luke’s Hospital where she died.

Her funeral service will be held on May 23 at Denman Avenue Baptist Church.

An online obituary said Register was the manager of her husband’s law practice and she enjoyed crafting including monogramming and crocheting.

She was a member of the Denman Avenue Baptist Church and she participated in the Ladies’ Bible Study and Kingdom Builders.

Register was the mother of four and grandmother of one.

No other information about the crash was provided up to Thursday, but it is still being investigated.

Subsequent accident reports could include more details.

Single-car crashes can have a wide range of contributing factors like driver impairment, speed, and weather conditions. Medical episodes like heart attacks and seizures can also cause a driver to crash.
