Seth Keener Accidentally Killed During Hunting Escapade in Jack County

Authorities are investigating the death of a Wise County man who lost his life while out hunting with two of his friends in Jack County, Texas. According to the accident reports, the fatal victim, identified as Seth Hunter Keener, 23, of Newark, was accidentally shot by one of his hunting companions on Wednesday, April 15.

The reports described the three men involved as lifelong friends. All three took to the woods on the said day to hunt for game.

However, what should have been a fun outdoor sport turned awry when one of the trio accidentally discharged a bullet on another, causing fatal injuries.

The two other men moved the victim’s unresponsive body to a nearby road, where they tried calling for help. First responders, from the neighboring Young County, tried to resuscitate the wounded man to no avail. Keener was pronounced dead at the scene according to the Young County Sheriff’s office.

The accident reports failed to disclose any information about the shooter, or the other hunter who witnessed the shooting. However, investigating officers said no foul play was suspected.

The Young County Sheriff’s office ordered an autopsy to be carried out on the deceased to ascertain his cause of death. The post-mortem reports are still pending. Further information concerning the incident was withheld.

The fatal shooting is under investigation by the Jack County authorities, with officials from both Young County, and Texas rangers assisting in solving the case.
