Dekalb Hit-and-Run Driver Kenzie Flagg, Tracked Down by K9

On Monday, March 2nd, the Dekalb County Police, Dekalb, 8 miles to Atlanta, Georgia, located a hit-and-run suspect, Kenzie Flagg, 34, using a K9 officer, Indi. The suspect was found hiding in a drain pipe.

Flagg was involved in an accident that happened late on the evening of Sunday, March 1st. According to investigators, the suspect was driving north on Moreland Avenue and Eastland Road.

As Flagg’s vehicle turned left shortly after 11 p.m., he struck the car of the victim. Rather than stay at the scene, the man fled, leaving the driver of the other vehicle and a passenger in his car injured.

The injured passenger got identified as a 40-year-old male, and the driver of the other car, as a man in his 70s. The latter made it to the hospital, but later succumbed to his wounds, and the condition of the other man remains unknown.

After the police found Flagg, they arrested him before taking him to the hospital for treatment of his wounds. He is facing several charges, including vehicular homicide.

The police believe that alcohol played a factor, but they are still investigating. If convicted on the charges, Flagg faces several years in state prison, including four years for fleeing from the scene of the accident.

Georgia law does not take kindly to a person fleeing after an accident occurs. Those involved in an accident are expected to stay back at the scene and cooperate with the authorities.

Such persons should provide their information to the police and be available for follow-up questions. They should assist those injured, and make every effort to keep them alive until emergency services arrive.
