Elton Dewayne Odom Survives Macon Motorcycle Crash

A Sunday night accident, March 15th, in North Macon, Georgia, left a man critically injured after crashing the motorcycle he was riding on. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office has identified him as Elton Dewayne Odom, 38, of North Carolina.

The accident report by the sheriff’s office showed that the crash occurred at the intersection of Arkwright Road and Arkwright Drive just before 6 p.m. Odom was driving a Harley Davidson motorcycle when he hit the dirt in the roadway and lost control of his bike.

The bike went off the road, went down an embankment, and landed next to a railroad track. Odom was taken to the hospital by first responders, where he remains receiving treatment; his current condition is unknown at the time of this report.

The accident remains under investigation, and anyone with relevant information should contact the sheriff’s office on its listed landline. Debris in the road is one of the common causes of accidents, as drivers lose control when they swerve to avoid it.

Animal sighting is another common cause of drivers losing control and crashing their vehicles. Rain also contributes, as rainfall makes the road slippery and slick, which leads to skidding when trying to apply the brakes, and spinning.

Night driving without beam lights is another cause of accidents, and design defects can also make a driver lose control of their vehicle. The best way to avoid accidents and fatality is to drive carefully, obey traffic signs and stops, and maintain the speed limit.
