Neelands Somarriba Suffers Life-Threatening Injuries after Multivehicle Crash in Cobb County

A man, Neelands Somarriba, from Marietta, has suffered severe injuries after being involved in a multivehicle crash in the Northern lanes of I-75 in Cobb County, Georgia. According to accident reports, the crash occurred around 3 a.m. on Friday, April 24.

Investigations into the crash revealed that the victim was hit from behind after he stopped his 2012 Kia Rio in a lane close to Canton Road exit.

The vehicle that hit Somarriba’s car from behind was a 2017 GMC Sierra pickup truck that was driven by a 56-year-old man, also from Cobb County. As a result of the collision, the pickup truck went off the road. Another vehicle, a 2020 Maxda CX-5, also hit Somarriba’s car.

Somarriba sustained severe life-threatening injuries from the crash and was taken to the hospital. It remains unclear why his car stopped in the middle of the road. The driver of the pickup truck, as well as the two occupants of the Mazda car, were left unhurt after the crash.

Accident reports state that they were questioned by investigators after which they were released.

Investigations into the crash continue, with no charges yet to be filed. The Marietta Police is also requesting that those with information regarding the crash should come forward or call the number 770-794-5357.

Drivers must ensure that they are mentally sane and free from any other influence or distractions whenever they are driving. Distraction or negligence causes a lot of road accidents and can lead to death or serious injuries.
