Raymond Still Killed in White County Single-Vehicle Crash

Raymond Still

A man identified as Raymond Still died last weekend in a traffic crash involving a single motorcycle which drove off the roadway and crashed into a group of trees in White County, Georgia. According to the accident reports supplied by the Georgia State Patrol, the incident took place just after noon on Saturday, May 16.

Officers responded to the crash at about 12:30 p.m., on reports of a motorcycle accident that left one person unresponsive on Ga. 17. Police said no other fatality resulted from the incident.

Preliminary investigations revealed the man was riding his motorbike through the southbound travel lanes on Ga. 17. Just as he made his way around a curve at the mile marker 14, the motorcycle veered off the shoulder of the road. The bike then skidded down a steep mountainside until it crashed into some trees.

The motorcycle rider suffered fatal injuries in the traffic wreck and emergency responders pronounced him dead upon their arrival. The accident reports failed to ascertain whether Still was using a helmet or other protective gear at the time.

Authorities later identified the deceased motorcyclist as Raymond Still, 59, of Hull. Officers did not immediately establish whether drugs and alcohol appeared to be a factor in the accident, which remains under investigation.

Traffic officers urge motorcycle riders to always adhere to all traffic safety regulations, including wearing helmets and maintaining the permitted speed limit. Riders should also avoid hitting the road while under the influence of alcohol or any controlled substance.
