Bradley Forist Killed In Single-Vehicle Crash In Ionia County


Authorities have identified the man killed Tuesday morning in a single-vehicle wreck on a state highway near in Ronald Township in Ionia County.

Bradley M. Forist, 30, of Grand Rapids, died at the scene of the wreck, which was reported at about 7:40 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Michigan State Police. No other vehicles were involved in the crash and no other injuries were listed on car accident reports available Wednesday evening.

Troopers said Forist was driving south on Michigan 66 near Long Lake Road at about 7:40 a.m. Tuesday when he lost control of his vehicle. The crossed the centerline and then veered off the roadway before slamming into a tree, according to car accident reports.

Forist, the vehicle’s sole occupant, was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the wreck, authorities said. Car accident reports state that he was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by emergency medical personnel. 

Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Orleans Township Fire Department, the Belding Fire Department, the Ionia County Sheriff’s Department and Ionia County Central Dispatch, according to car accident reports.

The incident remains under investigation by the Michigan State Police and it still is unclear what caused Forist to lose control of his vehicle. However, authorities told local media outlets that some type of unspecified drug use likely was a contributing factor in the wreck.
