Car Crashes into Home

An elderly driver was hospitalized after his vehicle hit a home on the 1300 block of South Greenwood, in Park Ridge, Illinois, last Friday.

The accident, which occurred shortly before 10:50 a.m., appears to have occurred when the driver, an 84-year-old male resident of Park Ridge, ran a stop sign and left the road, hitting multiple objects before running into the side of a house.

The driver was taken to Lutheran General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The two people in the house at the time of the crash were uninjured. The house was also severely damaged, but building inspectors believe that residents will soon be able to move back in.

The driver, who was at fault in the incident, received multiple traffic citations. Authorities are still trying to figure out what caused the crash. They believe that the driver may have been having some sort of medical emergency behind the wheel just before the crash.
