61-Year-Old Rob Higginbotham Killed in Crash Between Two Mercedes Vehicles

According to Cobb Police, an East Cobb man was killed after a car crash that happened late Friday night. 61-year-old Rob Higginbotham was pronounced dead at the scene.

The collision took place February 21 at approximately 11:20 p.m.at the intersection of Johnson Ferry Road and Powers Road. Another person was also injured in the collision. Two white Mercedes Benz vehicles were involved.

A Mercedes SL550, driven by Higginbotham, was attempting a left turn onto Powers from a northbound lane on Johnson Ferry, when it was struck by a Mercedes C300, traveling south on Johnson Ferry.

Police reported that Higginbotham was thrown from the vehicle. It was not reported whether he was wearing a seatbelt.

The driver of the other car, 19-year-old Marietta resident Colin Outz, was taken to Kennestone Hospital with injuries that were reported to be non-life-threatening.

Eyewitnesses reported to WSB-TV that on this particular stretch of Johnson Ferry—between Lower Roswell Road and Paper Mill Road—many high-speed crashes have happened as of late.

Cobb Police reported that the crash remains under investigation at this time. All areas of distracted driving will be investigated. Anyone with information is asked to call 770-499-3987.
