A man was pronounced dead on Monday afternoon after his vehicle overturned multiple times on Deans Bridge Road, in Richmond County, Georgia, causing him major injuries. The ghastly accident took place on Monday, March 30.
Reporting the incident, the Richmond County Coroner’s Office disclosed that the victim died hours later while receiving treatment.
Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Tobacco Road, at about 9 am, upon reports of a tragic accident involving an elderly motorist operating a Toyota Four Runner.
Preliminary investigations determined that the deceased was driving through the north travel lanes on the Dean’s Bridge Rd. before the crash.
Just as he approached the exit ramp to the adjoining Tobacco Road, the 66-year-old driver lost control of his car, causing it to roll over severally, before coming to a forceful halt a few meters away.
First responders rescued the victim from the wreckage alive and transported him to Augusta University Medical Center to commence treatment.
Authorities announced the victim’s death hours after his arrival at the hospital, affirming that the motorist died at precisely 1:53 pm on the same day from blunt force trauma, as revealed in his post-mortem reports.
The deceased was identified as William Rogers, 66, of Hephzibah. Police believe that alcohol played a part in the tragic accident.
Further investigations into the deadly traffic wreck are still in the works. Updates on the investigative findings would be reported once made available.
