According to Cobb Police, an 18-year-old motorcyclist was struck by a car and killed on the afternoon of February 22. The crash took place on Alabama Road near the Fulton County line in Northeast Cobb.

In a release Sunday, Sgt. Wayne Delk of Cobb Police reported that Cameron S. Clason, of Woodstock, was pronounced dead after being taken to North Fulton Hospital.

Clason was heading westbound on Alabama Road Saturday at approximately 4:30 p.m.  Saturday when his black 2009 Suzuki SV650 motorcycle collided with a gray 2001 Nissan Altima. The Altima was making a left turn from eastbound Alabama Road onto Old Mountain Park Road.

Police said Genesis L. Lugo, 21, of Woodstock, the driver of the Nissan, did not sustain any injuries and received no medical attention at the scene. At the time of the report, no charges had been filed against Lugo.

Sgt. Delk reported that the crash remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to call 770-499-3987.

The incident was the second fatal crash of the weekend in East Cobb. On Friday night, a 61-year-old man, Robert Higginbotham, was killed when his car was struck by another at the intersection of Johnson Ferry Road and Powers Road.

Cobb is about 20 miles northwest of Atlanta.
