According to Georgia State Patrol, on Saturday morning 55-year-old Angela Walker was killed in a crash that occurred during a police chase.
The accident began at approximately 9:15 a.m. when a state trooper noticed a 2015 Mini Cooper speeding on Interstate 75 near Adairsville. The trooper attempted to pull over the Mini Cooper, but the driver failed to stop. As a result, the trooper began pursuit.
The Cooper exited the instate and began traveling south on US-41. As the car approached Highway 140 in Adairsville, it proceeded through a red light. This was where the Cooper struck the other two vehicles. The trooper’s vehicle had no contact with any other vehicle in the crash.
One of those two vehicles, a gray 2015 Buick Verano, was being driven by 55-year-old Angela Walker Townsend of Adairsville, Ga. Walker was killed as a result of the crash, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
The second vehicle hit by the Cooper, a silver 1998 Dodge Durango, was being driven by 34-year-old Vanessa Stovall of Talking Rock, Ga. Stovall was taken to Gordon Hospital for treatment of head and shoulder injuries.
The driver of the Cooper has been identified as 20-year-old Christopher Tyler Parker of Blountsville, Ala. He was taken into custody and charged with felony fleeing and attempting to elude, felony vehicular homicide, felony receiving stolen property and felony bringing stolen property across state lines, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
According to investigators, Parker stole the car from his grandmother on Thursday.
