Multi-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 285 Claims the Life of Phu-Long Pham

A man from Dunwoody was killed in a fatal multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 285 in Cobb County, Georgia, on Wednesday, March 18th. The authorities identified him as Phu-Long Pham, 38.

According to the spokesperson of Cobb County Police, Sergeant Wayne Delk, the chain of events that led to the accident started shortly after 1 p.m. near the Interstate 285 interchange. A driver of an Isuzu box truck was heading west on the interstate when his front tire blew out.

The unidentified driver lost control of the truck and crashed into two cars before coming to a stop on the left shoulder. The vehicle remained partly on the travel lane, and a few moments after, a Toyota Corolla rear-ended it.

Pham was the driver of the Corolla, and he was pronounced dead by first responders at the scene. The driver of one of the cars struck by the Isuzu was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The police did not release information on the identity of the driver of the Isuzu or whether he or she was injured. The crash led to the closure of traffic on the affected lanes, and motorists were redirected to the far-right lane of the interstate.

The lanes were reopened at about 4 p.m., and the accident remains under investigation. The police have not cited the driver of the Isuzu, and they have asked anyone with helpful information to contact their Cobbs station listed line.

The police advised drivers to maintain their vehicles frequently, and ensure it is fit to be on the road to avoid accidents.
