The expertise of a car accident lawyer may be needed in Macon County, Georgia after two people ended up dead and one injured in a two-vehicle collision over the weekend. The fatal occurrence was reported on Sunday, April 19.
Confirming the incident, the Georgia State Patrol said that the two vehicles collided at about 4:45 pm along GA-127.
As reported, the Chevy pickup truck driven by William Lucas, 29, of Oglethorpe, was traveling along the west traffic lanes on the state route.
At the same time, another vehicle, a Dodge Charger, driven by Greg Bunkley, a 26-year-old Warner Robins resident, was southbound on the adjoining Butler Mill Road, heading towards its intersection with GA-127.
Upon reaching the intersection, the Dodge operator failed to yield to the stop sign on the traffic light. As a result, his vehicle crashed into the pickup truck, which was at the time crossing the interchange.
Following the collision, both vehicles spiraled out of control, past the shoulder of the road into an open field where they both overturned.
The two drivers, Bunkley and Lucas, sustained fatal injuries in the crash and were pronounced dead at the scene by the GSP.
Meanwhile, the sole passenger in the Dodge suffered major injuries and was airlifted to the Navicent Health Medical Center, Macon, by paramedics. The identity of the passenger, who remains in critical condition at the hospital, was revealed as 28-year-old Derek Russaw.
The fatal incident remains under investigation by the GSP. Victims of car crashes are urged to consult a car accident lawyer for representation.
