Motorcyclist, Joey Dobbs Battles for His Life Following Two-Vehicle Collision in Marietta

A 56-year-old man is in critical condition after a motorcycle he was riding was struck by a car driving through an intersection in Marietta, Georgia. The tragic occurrence, which requires the expertise of a motorcycle accident attorney, took place on the morning of Thursday, April 16.

According to a statement by the Marietta Police Department, officers were deployed to the areas of Fairground Street and South Marietta Parkway upon reports of a traffic crash involving a car and a motorcycle, at about 9:15 am.

Responding officers gathered that the motorcycle, a 1983 Honda Aspencade, was traveling through the south traffic lanes on Fairground Street.

At the same time, a 2002 Acura MDX, driven by 66-year-old Gwenetta Smith of Mableton was heading towards Fairground Street, from Marietta Parkway.

Just as the motorist attempted a left turn onto the street at the road intersection, the Acura tragically struck the cyclist, leaving him with life-threatening injuries.

First responders transported the motorcycle operator, whose name was disclosed as Joey Dobbs, 56, from Woodstock to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital for treatment, where he remains in critical condition.

The motorist stayed at the scene and awaited police arrival. No arrest was made regarding the crash, as investigators are yet to establish which of the commuters had the right of way at the time of the collision.

The Marietta Police Department is investigating the case to determine the cause and liability of the accident. Authorities are calling on possible witnesses to supply information that could facilitate the investigative processes.

It is advisable for anyone involved in a motorcycle accident to get in touch with a motorcycle accident attorney to ensure they are duly compensated for damages.
