A fatal collision between a bicycle and a car in the Marietta area of Georgia led to the death of an 11-year-old boy. The deadly incident took place on Monday, April 20, and the family of the victim may file a wrongful death lawsuit under the guidance of a bicycle accident attorney.

Officers responded to the crash at about 5 pm on the said day, following reports of a traffic wreck on Lucky Drive in Marietta. Preliminary investigations determined that a motorist operating a red 2005 Volvo XC90 was traveling along the west traffic lanes of the Marietta neighborhood.

At the same time, an 11-year-old boy was riding a bicycle across the street. Just as the Volvo negotiated a sharp left curve, it ran over the preteen cyclist who was at the time riding along the curve from the opposite direction.

The impact of the collision caused the bicycle rider and his bike to slam into the windshield of the Volvo and then rolled to the ground. The boy suffered multiple severe injuries in the crash. First responders transported the boy to the Kennestone medical facility, where he was later pronounced dead.

Meanwhile, the driver of the 2005 Volvo was not harmed in the accident. The motorist, identified as David Mondecar, 65, of Marietta, waited at the scene and cooperated with the police. David Mondecar was not arrested, nor charged with any crime.

The incident remains under investigation, and the police are calling on witnesses with helpful information to get in touch.

A bicycle accident attorney can help bicycle accident victims and their families secure maximum compensation for their losses.
