Lawrenceville driver Natalie Merizalde is faced with counts of felony and misdemeanor following a traffic accident which left a man dead in Gwinnett County, Georgia. The charges, which may be reviewed by an auto accident attorney assigned to the defendant, were filed on Wednesday, April 1.

A representative of the Gwinnett Police Department, Cpl. Michele Pihera confirmed the legal action in a news release while recounting the incident. Phera disclosed that the fatal collision took place at about 6 pm on Friday, March 27, and involved a car and a motorcycle which collided at an intersection.

The operator of the motorcycle, Robert Boren of Suwanee, was riding along the highway towards the intersection of Collins Hill and Russel roads.

At the same time, a Honda Accord, driven by a female motorist was headed in the direction and made an abrupt left turn on reaching the intersection. The move caused the motorist to hit the motorcyclist, throwing him off his bike, which resulted in fatal injuries.

First responders declared Boren dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the two occupants of the Honda were unscathed in the collision.

Authorities disclosed the identity of the Honda’s operator as 20-year-old Natalie Merizalde of Lawrenceville while the name of the passenger was not specified.

Following the crash, both vehicles involved were impounded pending conclusion of the investigations.

Although Merizalde was yet to be arrested, she has been charged with one count of failure to yield while turning left, and second-degree vehicular homicide.

Police say the suspect was preparing to surrender. In such cases, it is important for the involved parties to speak with an auto accident attorney to weigh the available options.
