New accident reports obtained from the Gainesville Police Department confirmed the death of a toddler barely 24 hours after a moving vehicle struck her. Authorities announced the victim’s death on Sunday, May 17, following the accident in Gainesville, Georgia.

Initial reports affirmed that a 2-year-old girl ended up hospitalised after a vehicle ran her over on Saturday, May 16. The tragic occurrence happened just before 1:30 p.m., in front of an Auburn Avenue private residence.

Officers gathered that the toddler resident in the 700 block of Auburn Avenue trotted to her driveway, onto the path of a moving vehicle. A family member was behind the wheels of the Chevrolet Silverado, which collided with her, causing major injuries.

They transported the young lad to the Northeast Georgia Medical Center for treatment. Sadly, doctors were unable to save the toddler, who gave in to her wounds the next day.

Authorities disclosed the little girl’s identity as Nazareth Alarcon. Investigators believe the fatal crash happened by accident, with no foul play suspected. The accident reports failed to reveal the identity of the Chevrolet’s operator, or their relationship with the deceased.

Gainesville Police Chief Jay Parish sympathised with Alarcon’s family on behalf of the GPD, while extending an arm of support in their trying times. No other information is available at this time.

The incident remains under investigation by the Gainesville Police Department Traffic Investigation Unit.
