Three Texas residents have died in Oconee County following a fatal plane crash which occurred near a residential area, 10 miles Southwest of Athens, Georgia. The deadly incident happened on Tuesday, March 3 and involved a small three-passenger aircraft.

According to the Oconee County sheriff’s office, authorities received several emergency calls on Tuesday evening at about 4 pm, reporting a plane crash which took place in the woods, near the intersection of  Berta Drive and Maxey Road.

Investigators arrived at the crash site and found the single-engine aircraft ablaze, with debris and dismantled engine parts scattered miles away. They discovered that three people were on board the burning craft, but the victims were not immediately identified.

Information gathered by the authorities later revealed that the three passengers were renowned businessmen from Texas, and neither of them made it out of the small plane alive.

The plane, identified as the Piper PA-46 was en route Tuscaloosa, Alabama, from Colombia, South Carolina, when the fatal incident occurred.

Aboard the aircraft were 63 years old Gordon Hall from Martindale, Donald Grieb, 67, from Houston and Chris Weber, a 65-year-old man from Missouri City, all located in Texas.
