Police are investigating a crash which occurred in Atlanta, Georgia, involving a pregnant woman, who fled the scene of the accident before eventually encountering a second crash. Although no traffic offence has been filed against the suspect since her arrest on Tuesday, April 14, she may require a car accident lawyer to follow up on the investigation into the dual traffic accidents.
The incident began at about 5:30 am in the Atlantic Station area. Atlanta Police said officers were deployed to the area upon reports of a traffic collision.
A Toyota Highlander, driven by a pregnant woman, crashed into the gate of The Atlantic Condos, located on 17th street. The operator of the Highlander, later identified as Seniqua Lunsford, 38, survived the wreck.
Lunsford reportedly sneaked out of the wrecked vehicle, and hijacked a nearby van, belonging to the CBS news crew. A pregnant CBS reporter, Iyani Hughes, was inside the van at the time.
Officers arrived at the scene just in time to witness the vehicle-jacking. After driving a few miles, however, the fleeing van crashed along The Prado, near Peachtree Circle in Ashley Park.
Fortunately, the reporter was not physically harmed. The pregnant woman was taken to a hospital to assess her medical status.
Lunsford suffered an arm injury and was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment. Police did not determine which of the two crashes resulted in the injury.
Following her treatment, the suspect was arrested, and booked into Grady’s Detention Center on a charge of kidnapping,
The circumstances surrounding the initial crash has not been established. It is, however, necessary to consult a car accident lawyer as Lunsford clearly holds the liability for at least one of the accidents.
