Update: Relatives of Accident Victim Emerald Lynn Open Up

A family in Maryland is mourning the loss of 31-year-old Emerald Lynn, a mother of two who died in a fiery crash on I-85 near Norcross in Gwinnett County, Georgia.

The accident which occurred on February 1 also claimed the life of 44-year-old Yonas Worku of Snellville who was driving a fuel tanker.

Lynn’s relatives said she moved to Norcross from Maryland last year with her two children. They are calling the Saturday morning crash a freak accident.

The victim’s sister Samira Jackson said it was devastating to look at the accident scene. Lynn’s relatives said even looking at pictures of the crash or the fire that resulted was difficult.

Calling her sibling’s passing a tremendous loss, Jackson said the tragedy was sad, but no one was angry. Her mother, Cassandra Young said the incident had been hard on everyone.

The family said they were trying to remember the good things about Lynn that they will never get back.

Jackson highlighted her love, personality, and smile, calling her a good person who was very family oriented.

The family has created a GoFundMe page to help pay for Lynn’s burial costs.

According to law enforcement reports, Lynn had been involved in a crash and she stopped her Volkswagen Passat in the second from the right lane. Worku, who was driving a Freightliner truck, was not able to stop in time to avoid a collision with Lynn’s vehicle.

The tanker truck then spun across four lanes and flipped several times. Both vehicles were quickly engulfed in flames.
