Authorities have identified the man killed in a single-vehicle wreck Monday afternoon on Midland Avenue in Will County.

Kenneth Jenco, 79, of Joliet, was pronounced dead just before 4 p.m. Monday at a Joliet hospital, according to a press release from the Will County Coroner’s Office. No other injuries are listed in car accident reports released in connection to the wreck.

Authorities said Jenco was driving a vehicle in the 400 block of Midland Avenue at about 2:30 p.m. Monday. At some point Jenco apparently crashed into a “fixed object,” the specific nature of which was not listed in car accident reports.

Jenco was transported by emergency medical personnel to AMITA Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet. Car accident reports state he was pronounced dead as a result of his injuries just before 4 p.m. Monday.

According to preliminary autopsy results, Jenco died as a result of “multiple injuries due to a motor vehicle mishap,” the release stated.

“Final cause and manner of death will be determined at a later date, pending police, autopsy (and) toxicology reports,” coroner’s office officials wrote in the press release.

The Joliet Police Department continues to investigate the incident. Authorities told local media outlets that Jenco might have suffered a medical emergency that led to the crash.

It is unclear whether other factors are thought to have contributed to the wreck.
