Destiny Saenz Struck and Killed by Vehicle After Skateboard Accident in Fort Worth

A teenager met her end over the weekend when a moving car struck her seconds after falling from a skateboard in southeast Fort Worth, Texas. The tragic incident took place at night on Sunday, May 17, as stated in the accident reports released by the Tarrant County authorities.

Police recorded the accident just before 11 p.m. on the 5700 block of Martins Street. No other casualty emerged in the wreck, according to police records.

According to the initial reports, the teenage girl was on a skateboard, moving through a Fort Worth street when she suddenly fell off and hit the ground. She ended up on the westbound lanes on the roadway. An approaching vehicle,   described as a 2003 Dodge Neon, then ran her over, causing fatal injuries. First responders pronounced her deceased at the scene.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office later identified the fatal victim as Destiny Saenz, a 15-year-old Fort Worth local. The accident reports did not establish what caused the teenager to fall off her skateboard, or if she was wearing protective gear when it happened.

Authorities ruled the teenager’s death as an accident. The operator of the Dodge, whose name remains withheld, told officers he did not see the girl in time to avoid the collision. No other detail about the crash is available at this time.

Commuters should strive always to pay attention to their surroundings when track traveling on roadways.
