Head-On Collision in Johnson County Kills Hugh Nixon

An accident report from Johnson County, Texas, covers the story of a man whose life ended in a fatal head-on collision on Monday afternoon, May 25th. The authorities identified the deceased as Hugh Nixon, 71, of Alvarado.

The Texas Department of Public Safety in a news briefing said that the accident occurred at about 3:30 p.m. on FM 917, east of CR 808. The preliminary investigation uncovered that a GMC Sierra pickup truck was traveling east on the farm road, while a Nissan Quest SUV was westbound on the same roadway.

The authorities disclosed that for unknown reasons, the pickup swerved into the west lane of travel and collided head-on with the SUV. The first vehicle stopped in the middle of the road, and the second rested on the north side of the roadway, in a ditch.

Hugh Nixon, who was driving the SUV, passed away at the scene from the injuries sustained in the collision. The driver of the pickup. Identified as Sherrie Boydston, 55, of Glenrose, sustained significant wounds. The medics transported her to John Peter Smith Hospital for treatment.

There is no update on the female driver’s condition at the time of this report. The investigation to determine the cause is ongoing, and the TDPS will provide an update at a later time.
